Srila Prabhupada's Poetry - Vrndavane Bhajana - Neophytes Cannot Enlighten Others

ataeva tan'ra nahe "nirjana-bhajana"
kanistha-adhikara ei - jagat-vancana

Therefore the true devotee never abandons preaching work to engage in solitary worship. Such behavior of a neophyte devotee will cheat the entire world.

bada bada nama-jada vaisnava sajjaya
padri saheba asi' mile saba taya

Once I observed a group of supposedly famous Vaisnavas who held big, big devotional titles. A British Christian missionary came to Vrndavana and met with them at their assembly.

puchila sri-krsna-lila vrndavana-majha
na bujhala ta're tattva vaisnava-samaja

The priest asked those persons to explain the pastimes that Sri Krsna performed in Vrndavana. But in that entire gathering of so-called famous devotees, no one could explain to him the truth of the Lord's pastimes.

kanistha-adhikari saba sastra nahi bujhe
nirjane bharame sudhu ruti-cana khunje

All those big, big devotees were actually just neophytes, who had no proper understanding of the scriptures. Engaging in their troublesome and pretentious solitary worship, they are simply concerned about their next meal.
