Prabhupada was always so austere

Krishnamurti Dasa: I cooked some offerings for the Deities and I suppose Srila Prabhupada got the maha-prasadam. They would always give Srila Prabhupada a big huge plate of maha-prasadam, and he would hardly touch it. He would take a bite here, something there and then leave 98% over and devotees would come in and eat every morsel. He was always so austere - minimal sleeping, minimal eating, most of the time giving lectures, talking to devotees about projects and of course translating. So there was no time for eating and sleeping. That’s the way of the pure devotee, that’s the way of the uttama-adhikari, maha-bhagavata I should say.
